    We are seeking an experienced maintenance mechanic to work varied days and hours, (primarily 8am-4pm )including possible weekend days as needed. Must be flexible and available to work varied shifts.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs general mechanical and preventative tasks. Inspects, services, repairs and overhauls equipment of the physical plant as directed.

    • Carries out routine and specific assignments to insure that the physical plant and assigned equipment are in safe operating condition and in compliance with applicable Kessler policies and with regulatory and/or accrediting codes and specifications. Including:

    • Daily inspects and completes repairs as documented in the “Nursing Maintenance Request” logbook.

    • Tests emergency generators and equipment as directed.

    • Daily inspects Hospital plumbing, including faucets, toilets and showers and makes repairs as necessary.

    • Daily inspects water softener levels and adds salt as needed.

    • Daily inspects Hospital finishes and makes repairs to ceiling tiles, floors, walls, etc…

    • Performs painting and carpentry work as assigned.

    • Repairs and maintains HVAC equipment.

    • Performs electrical work under the supervision of the Director.
    • Assures that all electrical tests are fully documented and that records are kept current.
    • Requisitions outside materials as needed.
    • Performs snow removal and salting operations on walkways, driveways, and parking lots.
    • Participates in a twenty-four hour/seven day a week mechanic on-call schedule.
    • Adheres to Kessler Infection Control policy and procedures
    • Assists outside contractors as directed
    • Performs other duties as requested.

    Qualifications

    Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Trade or vocational school background preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance, repair, and safety procedures required. Current Black Seal license preferred, with the option of attaining the license within six months as a condition of employment.
