Select Medical is looking for a proactive, results-oriented Manager/Supervisor, Network Operations to manage the day-to-day support of our network infrastructure in Select Medical’s hospitals, clinics and administrative locations across the country.  Our network operations teams support the network connections to 1,800 locations as well as the wired and wireless networks within those locations.  The Manager/Supervisor, Network Operations is also responsible for overseeing the deployment of equipment and service improvement projects at these locations and for adherence to corporate IS policies and procedures.  This position must maintain coordination and communication with other IS teams in support of the locations and their associated projects.  The Manager/Supervisor, Network Operations, reports to the Manager, Data and Voice Communications.

 

The Manager/Supervisor, Network Operations is challenged with managing the service levels for the network infrastructure including routers, switches, wireless controllers and access points, network optimizers and wide area network connections.  This including managing the distribution of work and managing the communications regarding outages to key management within Information Services, to key corporate and operational leadership, and to staff at the locations.  It also involves overseeing the outsourced level 1 network operations center. The Manager/Supervisor, along with his staff, ensures that a superior level of service is provided to all customers. 

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises the work of the hospital, clinic and field administrative offices network operations support staff.
  • Ensures that the staff resolves all network and circuit related issues escalated to them in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with the Information Services service level agreements.
  • Is the focal point for coordinating and responding to major incidents within the network infrastructure area.
  • Works directly with field IS support staff stationed in many remote locations.
  • Assists other groups in diagnosing problems with applications using network logging and monitoring tools.
  • Manages the day-to-day relationship with the outsourced level 1 network operations center and provides oversight.
  • Plans, schedules, and allocates work ensuring the timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Ensures that the staff coordinates the installation and support of all communications equipment in hospitals, clinics and administrative locations.
  • Utilizes strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills to help staff drive projects and complete objectives.
  • Sets priorities along with coordinating and reporting the team’s activities and performance.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations for staff and make recommendations for professional growth.
  • Screens candidates for open staff positions and conduct interviews.
  • Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed.
  • Monitors and reports on any security violations related to the unwarranted access to corporate data.
  • Builds team spirit with staff members.
  • Adheres to corporate Change Control procedures.
  • Supports the mission and direction of Select Medical Information Services.

Qualifications

  • BS or BA degree in Business Systems, Computer Science or Information Systems or other equivalent education or experience. 
  • 5 years of experience managing wired and wireless networks, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Broad knowledge of IT concepts, disciplines, best practices and methodologies will be expected.
  • Strong dedication to quality customer service.
  • Requires superior leadership, teamwork and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and motivational skills a must.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Must possess a personal sense of urgency management style.
  • Prior healthcare environment experience is preferred.
