     Clinical Nurse Manager

     

    At California Rehabilitation Institute our services have been designed for patients who need a longer rehabilitation hospitalization for their recovery. We are currently seeking a Nurse Manager for Transitional Care to join our team.

    Responsibilities

    Possesses a specialized knowledge base and skills to facilitate patient treatment and staff development. Provides and oversees patient care. Implementing hospital and department philosophy and objectives. Provides leadership during times of crisis to assure continuity of care and a productive work environment. Maintains approved standards of patient care, collaborating with appropriate persons for continuity of care under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer. Communicates clinical issues, as they relate to service or program development, to the CNO. Promotes clinical development, competency and expertise in staff to maximize patient outcomes. Effectively communicates on multiple levels.

    • Selects qualified candidates who fit the culture and have the most potential to contribute to accomplishment of established objectives. 
    • Ensures that direct reports have received upon hire and continue to receive throughout employment the training, information and support to accomplish departmental objectives and meet job requirements. 
    • Provides regular and accurate performance feedback to direct reports with focus on results, skill expansion, process improvement and learning. 
    • Ensures success of department operations through building employee engagement, effective talent assessment, continual learning and development, cross-training and succession planning. 
    • Identifies and initiates own professional growth through continued learning, self-study and involvement in professional activities and organizations. 
    • Assures application and documentation of the nursing process for all patients by the nursing staff through observation of practice and review of documentation. Assures that staff is compliant in documenting appropriately according to organizational standards including assessments, care planning, care provided, patient family teaching and discharge planning on patients. 
    • Monitors and assesses the quality of nursing care delivered by the staff. Ensures the completion of quality improvement activities and implements changes in patient care as indicated by trends in the data. Takes an active role in implementing new PI initiatives, delegating responsibilities appropriately. Oversees the implementation of approved policies and procedures by all nursing staff, resolving issues and re-educating as the need arises. 
    • Guides, utilizes and integrates the Nursing Department’s Professional Practice Model as a framework for decision making, accountability, communication, development/growth, and creating a blueprint for practice. 
    • Assures that staffing and patient assignments are based on patient acuity and staff skill set, accounting for the needs of all patients on the unit. Alerts the Chief Nursing Officer in the event of any unusual staffing or census variances. When necessary, takes an assignment and provides direct care to patients. 
    • Conducts monthly staff meetings for the communication of pertinent information and gathering of staff feedback. Maintains and submits required records and reports. 
    • Assists in maintaining departmental budget parameters by monitoring charges and supply usage of the units. 

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors Degree in Nursing required
    • Current and valid state of California licensure as a Registered Nurse required
    • Three or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse; one or more years’ experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity is preferred
    • CRRN (Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse) preferred
