Cook – Dietary – Food Service – Food Preparation





As a Cook you will report to the Food Services Manager, prepare foods for patients, staff, and guests, and may assist with general cleaning of cooking and eating area. In the absence of the Manager, the Cook supervises the dietary staff, ensuring that facility and departmental policies and procedures are adhered to, and that proper sanitation, safety, and infection control policies are followed. 


 Other requirements of the Cook role include:  

  • Accepting and understanding both verbal and written instructions
  • Providing high quality food preparation and service
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment to meet department standards
  • Maintaining high standards of quality food production and portion control
  • Demonstrating willingness to help with work that needs to be done
  • Taking initiative to not only identify problems, but to bring about a positive and sustainable solution

As a Cook, you must be able to deliver superior quality in all that you do. We are seeking results-driven team players who treat patients and customers as if they were their own family members. Qualified candidates must be passionate about providing a superior quality of care. You must also be a resourceful problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.


Other requirements of the Cook role include:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One (1) year of supervised work experience
  • Work in extended care facility preferred
  • Experience in the preparation and service of foods, in estimating quantities of food needed, and in principles of sanitation and safe handling of food and equipment preferred.
  • Positive, caring and customer-service-oriented attitude
