PRN Rate: $60

Weekend differential $6

 

Shift minimum requirements: 2 weekend days per month: 24 shifts per year minimum.

 

Seeking a Speech Language Pathologist at Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation in Lakeway, TX. This is a PRN position that will train to cover both our inpatient rehabilitation unit as well as our Day Neuro program. The candidate will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to treat medically complex patients that include stroke, brain injury, SCI, cancer, and other acquired or progressive neurological diagnoses with co-morbidities including aphasia, cognitive-communication deficits, motor speech disorders and dysphagia.  We are seeking a patient-centered candidate with strong swallowing and neurological rehab skills who works well in a team setting. We are open to recent graduates with previous experience in a rehab setting. No CFY opportunities at this time. Shift minimum requirements: 2 days per month to cover high-need days with a minimum of 24 shifts/year. Preferred experience with: e-stim, FEES/MBSS, and evidence-based intervention methods. Responsibilities

Evaluates all assigned patients and develops, implements and modifies treatment plan in accordance with the patient’s need and physician direction. Responsible for delegation and direction of all discipline-specific therapy services for those assigned patients. Ensures the design of functional and patient-centered treatment programs allowing for an effective return to community and prior level of function.  Serves as an educator of patients, families, students, co-workers and self. Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, development of discipline-specific therapy services and design of program delivery.

 

We are seeking someone who can:

    • Evaluate the patient's level of functioning and develop an individualized treatment plan aligned with patient and family goals
    • Participate in discharge planning including placement, patient and family education, and adaptive equipment
    • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team model.
    • Perform standardized assessments for disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice and fluency disorders to create an individualized and patient-centered plan of care.
    • Perform clinical swallow evaluations and interpret Modified Barium Swallow evaluations in order to safely determine a diet and individualized plan of care.
    • Plan and deliver effective patient and family training to address safety concerns and facilitate carryover into the home and community.
    • Participate in monthly speech trainings and CEU’s related to speech pathology.
    • Market and promote speech services to the community in order to grow the speech program in Central Texas.
    • Demonstrate commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
  • CCC-SLP certification from ASHA, TX-SLP certification from the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Dysphagia experience required.
  • 3+ years of outpatient experience with adult neuro preferred. 
  • LSVT/SPEAK OUT certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with AAC preferred.
  • NMES for swallowing (AmpCare preferred).
