Patient Account Representative – Workers’ Compensation

 

Start your career in healthcare with Select Medical!  We are hiring a full-time Patient Account Representative to join our Workers’ Compensation team.  This role offers a starting rate of $17.00/hour (commensurate with experience), with a Monday through Friday, daylight schedule—no evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Review and follow up on Workers’ Compensation account balances that are 45+ days overdue.

• Investigate reasons for nonpayment by contacting the appropriate party and documenting all communications in the system.
• Ensure timely and consistent follow-up based on the last contact to move accounts toward resolution.
• Review accounts as early as 21 days from the initial evaluation to confirm claims are submitted accurately and reaching the correct payer.
• Place outgoing calls to patients, insurance companies, and attorneys to verify claim status, reduce outstanding receivables, and lower days sales outstanding (DSO).
• Identify and resolve issues that delay or prevent timely collection of open receivables.
• Counsel patients on financial options, establish payment plans, and initiate the letter process with appropriate follow-up.
• Request and process account adjustments, including write-offs and refunds, when necessary.
• Consistently meet productivity and cash collection goals set by management.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Healthcare collections experience
  • Experience working in a production based environment where daily, weekly and monthly goals are set and routinely met.
  • Have experience with receiving feedback regarding quality of work.
  • Self-Motivated and Accountable
  • Experience in telephone collections not just on-line. Must be comfortable talking on the phone.
  • Proficient in trouble shooting minor software and hardware issues
  • Ability to work independently and resourceful in problem solving
