A unique opportunity for a rehab psychologist or neuropsychologist to assist patients in their recovery from an Acquired Brain Injury or Spinal Cord Injury at the OhioHealth Neuro Transitional Center. This role will work with patients in a small 12 bed, home-like and therapy setting to help patients return home by providing cognitive functional therapy activities, counseling and evaluation. The best candidate will join a dynamic transdisciplinary team including PT, OT, SLP, Nursing, Case Manager, Neuro Rehab Coaches and a PMR physician. This role is an integral part of the model that in another location returns 93% of severely impaired patients back home.

 

 

Conducts neuropsychological evaluations, provides psychological counseling, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, education, and crisis intervention to patients and families. Provides recommendations and consultations to the transdisciplinary team to assist in developing functional activities based on patient neuropsychological results, strengths, and impairments.

 

 

Responsibilities

Identifies appropriate tests and conducts neuropsychological evaluations with acquired brain injury or spinal cord injury patients.

 

Analyzes neuropsychological testing data leading to a diagnostic impression, prepares written neuropsychological reports and delivers feedback to the patient and family as appropriate.

 

Responsible for providing counseling, education, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, and treatment floor coverage. Conducts patient, family, group, and individual sessions

 

Actively creates an individualized professional development plan with clinical management.

 

Participates in team conferences and family conferences, collaborating with the transdisciplinary team

 

Ongoing participation in discharge planning to facilitate a safe discharge home.

 

Completes medical record documentation

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree and licensure in Psychology required. Board Certification in Neuropsychology or Rehabilitation Psychology or special training in neuropsychology or rehabilitation psychology preferred.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Current State Driver's License in good standing required

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of experience working in a neuro rehabilitation environment preferred; experience with brain injury population preferred.
  • Ability to delegate and problem solve effectively.
