Overview

NovaCare Prosthetics and Orthotics Center in Marlton, NJ is hiring a Prosthetics Resident!

 

Our residency program is an extension of one's education. The resident will get a well-structured and comprehensive residency that allows him/her to progress at a confident level to build the skills required to become a certified practitioner. Our residency program is focused not only on the clinical aspect of the business but also on the management and administrative side to provide residents with a well-rounded exposure to the O&P business as a whole. Our patient population is diverse, and residents will be seeing patients with all levels of orthotic needs or amputations at all levels for both upper and lower extremity conditions. Residents will also be immersed in technology and fabrication processes. Our facility is the training site for future employment for one of over 30 independent O&P practices. Residents should have the desire to stay within the NovaCare P&O facilities after completion of residency.

 

Highlights of the P&O Residency Program

  • 12-month Prosthetic Residency; NO combined residency available
  • One prosthetic resident is chosen for each term
  • Residents should expect abundant clinical shadowing experience, documentation skills, hands-on experience, and in-house fabrication.
  • Residency usually begins in June/July depending on graduation. One prosthetic resident is chosen for each term.

Hours Needed: Full-time, 40 hrs/week, M-F 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Salary: Starting at $45,000/year

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assists practitioners with patient care.
Prepares the room and patient for treatment.
Makes and modifies molds, performs technical fabrication, and completes administrative tasks.
Completes and maintains accurate documentation of patient care provided.
Evaluates selected orthotic and prosthetic needs of patients, measures cases, and fits and adjusts devices.
Performs selected patient care procedures, including but not limited to the fitting of soft good items.
Provides alterations to the fitting of soft good items, if necessary.
Provides patient follow-up for selected orthotic and prosthetic patients.
Performs shipping, receiving and monitoring inventory as well as other clerical tasks.
Contacts vendors to order prosthetic and orthotic materials.

Provides on-call services as necessary.
Adheres to all safety regulations and compliance with Medicare and other governmental agencies’ standards. Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements and Company policy.
Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION PREPARATION:
Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics Degree from a CAAHEP accredited program
Formal O&P Training in recognized O&P School.
