Therapy Manager

Full Time

 

 The Neuro Transitional Center has 12 beds and is designed to provide intensive rehabilitation to individuals with an acquired brain injury or spinal cord injury who are unable to safely return home at the time of discharge from an inpatient rehab hospital due to the severity of their impairments. Currently, 93% of our patients return to their homes at discharge from NTC, and now (Ohioans or Buckeyes) will not have to leave the state to receive this level of service.   

Responsibilities

Position Summary

 

The Therapy Manager exhibits specialized knowledge base and skills to facilitate patient outcomes and staff development. Participates as part of the neuro transitional center leadership team, communicating opportunities for program development and improvement. Promotes staff engagement, effective communication, transdisciplinary approach, education and competency to deliver expected outcomes. Assists with daily operational management tasks. Effectively communicates on multiple levels. Carries a partial caseload.

  • Selects qualified candidates who fit the culture and have the most potential to contribute to accomplishment of established objectives.
  • Ensures that direct reports have received upon hire and continue to receive throughout employment the training, information and support to accomplish departmental objectives and meet job requirements.
  • Provides regular and accurate performance feedback to direct reports with focus on results, skill expansion, process improvement and learning.
  • Ensures success of department operations through building employee engagement, effective talent assessment, continual learning and development, cross-training and succession planning.
  • Identifies and initiates own professional growth through continued learning, self-study and involvement in professional activities and organizations.
  • Identifies and effectively utilizes individual and team strengths to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring the success of operational and clinical initiatives. Optimizes departmental operations by identifying current needs, strategically delegating responsibility, and planning for succession of these responsibilities.  
  • Oversees therapist documentation to ensure timeliness, accuracy and meaningfulness according to NTR policy.  Oversees therapist orientation, ongoing and annual training according to NTR, with input into continuing educational opportunities appropriate to discipline. Assists with tNRC training in collaboration with the leadership team
  • Guides and educates the therapy team in the neuro transitonal rehab model and program philosophy to maximize patient recovery and outcomes.  Enhances the therapy model by assisting in the development of personally relevant functional activities, maintaining, organizing and implementing the activities as needed. Performs clinical duties including attending and presenting at staffing, family conferences, individual therapy sessions and/or carrying a partial caseload of 1 to 2 depending  on staffing and census. 
  • Responsible for coordination of the therapy schedule to assure completed timely and according to neuro transitional rehab program model, assigning primary therapist, and ensuring that staffing is adequate and efficient per team(s). Demonstrates creative problem solving in addressing concerns in staff utilization.  
  • Identifies, responds and reports acute changes in patient status.  Follows appropriate emergency procedures to insure patient safety.  Coordinates and facilitates departmental response to emergency situations.
  • Pursues focused skill development through continuing education, self study, involvement in professional activities and organizations.
  • Utilizes the organization’s performance improvement methodology to improve quality of services provided by this position to develop program improvement initiatives. Takes an active role in implementing new PI initiatives, through delegating responsibilities appropriately.  Participates and provides input into NTR  quality meetings to assist in the analysis of quality quality
  • Serves as part of the neuro transitional center leadership team.  Responsible for effectively communicating and clarifying expectations  to enhance program delivery,  meet strategic goals, and provide recommendations to maximize operational efficiency.
  • May transport patient into the community.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience (Including Licenses)

  1. Current licensure in a clinical discipline, speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist.
  2. BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
  3. Current State Driver's License in good standing required
  4. Knowledge of staffing patterns/ratios preferred
  5. Two years of leadership experience in an neuro transitional rehabilitation or neuro rehabilitation environment preferred; experience with acquired brain injury and spinal cord injury population preferred.
  6. Ability to delegate and problem solve effectively.
