The Financial Recovery Consultant collects monies due on high dollar, at risk accounts using inventive collection methods.  Liaison between other departments within the organization and the CBO management team to facilitate communication of reimbursement policies, procedures, and resolutions to issues causing delays to cash and accounts receivable management.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve outstanding accounts assigned that may include high dollar accounts, specific payers, accounts for closed centers, aged accounts, or any project focusing on targeted accounts receivable
  • Makes recommendations regarding the collectability of accounts. Reviews open AR to identify accounts requiring escalation.
  • Analyzes Accounts Receivable to identify root causes of billing problems and communicates to Business Office Manager on issues relating to the collection process.
  • Maintains global knowledge of all functions and processes within the CBO.
  • Ensures appropriate processes are followed with regard to collections procedures. Recommends new processes and procedures for more effective and efficient collections
  • Performs ongoing trend analysis on third party payer payment levels including denials to ensure reimbursement is in accordance with allowable amounts stated in agreements and contracts. Works with Directors of Managed Care to resolve discrepancies.
  • Works directly with payer relations representatives to identify and resolve specific payer issues.
  • Research state and payer specific payment and collection regulations.
  • Consistently meets productivity and quality goals based on individual assignment and is subject to change based on volume changes and operational needs.
  • Provides training to others in the CBO as needed.
  • Supports the mission/core values and direction of Select Medical both within the Central Business Office and throughout the corporation.
  • Performs any additional duties as assigned by CBO Leadership.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Minimum three years inpatient facility collection experience.
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction or supervision
  • Required to be proficient in Windows based office technologies (ex. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
