Security System Analyst - Splunk

 

Hybrid/On-site

1-2 days on-site in Mechanicsburg, PA

The Information Security program at Select Medical is expanding its Information Security team to include an additional Information Security Analyst. We are seeking a highly-motivated individual to assist with our security system administration needs. Select Medical offers an innovative, fast-paced work environment where an entrepreneurial spirit is encouraged.  Qualified individuals should have a degree in Information Security, Information Technology or related discipline, along with relevant work experience.

 

This individual will play a meaningful role in the Information Security Technology and Operations program, aimed at improving the company’s alignment with corporate security policies/standards, strategic goals, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Security System Administration team with both customer-facing and internal projects
  • Working across teams to assist with building Splunk searches, running reports, building dashboards and onboarding new data sources
  • Perform daily administrative tasks, including monitoring and managing Splunk data ingestion trends and ensure data source accuracy
  • Work closely with our incident response team to support their data analysis and alerting needs.
  • User Support and Troubleshooting: Provide first-level support to Splunk users, addressing issues and assisting with Splunk-related requirements.
  • Work closely with the Senior Splunk Engineer and Task Lead to align on priorities, receive guidance, and participate in task meetings.
  • Partner with our managed services provider to ensure services are patched, tasks are completed, and uptime is maintained.
  • Stay current on industry trends including finding new ways to leverage our data

What will set you apart:

  • Hands on experience with supporting an enterprise Splunk environment, either on-prem or SaaS.
  • Healthcare related experience working with HIPAA, SOX and NIST frameworks
  • Scripting and Automation – Understanding of scripting languages like Powershell and Python
  • Splunk certifications

 

Qualifications

Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security, Management Information Systems or equivalent education and experience
  • In Lieu of undergraduate degree, the ratio is 1:1 meaning one year of college equals one year of work experience and vice versa
  • 3+ years’ experience of growing responsibility in a security system administration role, IT support role or other practical system support role.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Basic understanding of computing concepts such as operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S)
  • Basic understanding of Security concepts such as encryption, firewalls, least privilege, patching
  • A positive attitude with a strong desire to learn and grow your skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to stay current with the latest trends related to Cyber Security and Technology.
  • Possess the ability to communicate technical issues clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A genuine interest in security topics, even those beyond the task at hand
  • Ability to self-start and be proactive on recognizing gaps and issues as they arise
  • Shown ability to handle multiple tasks/workstreams and demands efficiently
  • Strong dedication to quality customer service
  • Ability to thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment and use standard methodologies
  • Relevant industry certifications are a plus
