Compensation depends upon candidate’s years of experience 

Minimum Hourly Pay: $53.00/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Serve patients by ensuring accurate preparation and dispensation of medications, providing pharmacological expertise to the multidisciplinary healthcare team, and monitoring patient drug therapies.
  • Prepare medications by meticulously reviewing and interpreting physician orders, ensuring therapeutic compatibility and safety.
  • Dispense medications through meticulous compounding, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceuticals.
  • Monitor patient drug therapies closely with emphasis on antibiotic and opioid stewardship, DOAC and warfarin assessments and advising on interventions as necessary to optimize outcomes.
  • Manage pharmacy operations by organizing and overseeing technicians’ workflow, ensuring accurate preparation and labeling of medications, and verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
  • Provide pharmacological information to healthcare professionals, answering inquiries and counseling patients on their drug therapies.
  • Enhance pharmacological knowledge among hospital staff.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal drug laws, including regulations set by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and FDA, by conducting regular nursing unit inspections.
  • Maintain accurate records of controlled substances and manage the removal of outdated or damaged drugs from pharmacy inventory.
  • Supervise support personnel to ensure adherence to pharmacy standards and protocols.
  • Stay informed about existing and new legislation related to pharmacy practice, anticipating future changes, and advising management on necessary actions.
  • Uphold infection-control protocols to protect patients and pharmacy technicians.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by strictly following established procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contribute to team efforts by achieving related goals and supporting colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

  • Requires successful completion of all educational requirements as mandated for state licensure (Pharm D or BS Pharm). Completion of PGY-1 pharmacy residency and/or BPS speciality certification preferred.
  • Current State Licensure Required
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Must maintain a current license in state of practice.
