Select Medical - Inpatient Rehabilitation Division

 

This position with cover both

Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital and Helen M Simpson Rehabilitation Hospitals (East and newly opening West Shore locations)

Responsibilities

Establishes nursing and nursing assistant educational programs within assigned region aimed at employee development, integrating clinical best-practices, credentials and competency of clinical staff, and the development of educational materials that may be marketable. Participates in and supports the development of patient education strategies for implementation by all clinicians. Develops and coordinates outcome based staff education programs in collaboration with the various management teams.

 

Specific responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse Educator include:

  1. Teaching content within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation and ongoing clinical staff development
  2. Planning, preparing and maintaining materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience; identifies and evaluates instructional materials in all types of media and formats; adjusts content and teaching strategies appropriate to adult learner needs.
  3. Serving as nursing staff preceptor/mentor.
  4. Participating in identifying learning needs of nursing staff.
  5. Communicating effectively with staff and management regarding educational needs and offerings. Coordinating educational activities with the hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer.
  6. Assessing, planning and implementing programs for staff development to upgrade and maintain competency skills.
  7. Developing and sustaining relationships and presence within local colleges and universities offering nursing degrees to identify and recruit nurses into the Program.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Current and valid state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Certified BLS required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • BSN from an accredited college or university.
  • Three to five (3-5) years clinical experience with precepting and charge nurse experience preferred.
  • Recent critical care, step down, or med surg/telemetry experience.
